The Community Welcome Centre

Support the TENTing Community Welcome Centre

Help us create a welcoming, safeguarding-conscious community hub where individuals and families can learn, connect, receive practical guidance, build confidence and move towards independent participation in community life.

The TENTing Community Welcome Centre will provide a practical physical home for El-Bethel Mission's TENTing–BACiP Community Integration Programme.

The Centre is designed as a welcoming community house and learning hub rather than an institutional service centre. It will provide safe, flexible space for community integration, learning, befriending, family support, volunteer development, partnership activity and practical guidance.

Our aim is to begin with a manageable centre that can be responsibly acquired, operated and maintained, and then grow as demand, partnerships and sustainable funding develop.

TENTing Community Welcome Centre — a welcoming, safeguarding-conscious community hub for learning, connection and belonging

Our Practical Vision

A simple, warm and functional community hub built around three purposes.

Welcoming Space

A friendly, accessible environment where individuals and families can feel safe, known and supported.

Learning and Development

Flexible space for English conversation, digital confidence, training, employability preparation, volunteering and practical workshops.

Community Connection

A place for befriending, community meals, family activities, partnership meetings and community cohesion.

A Centre We Can Sustain

El-Bethel Mission is pursuing a minimum viable Community Welcome Centre, not an unnecessarily large or expensive facility.

Our first Centre is intended to be practical, affordable and manageable. Where possible, we will prioritise premises that already meet these requirements so that funding can be directed towards programme delivery rather than expensive building works.

We are seeking a suitable shared, licensed or leased property with approximately:

  • one flexible multi-purpose community room
  • one or two confidential meeting rooms
  • a small office/reception area
  • basic kitchen or refreshment facilities
  • secure storage
  • accessible toilet facilities
  • good public transport access

What Your Support Makes Possible

These are the purposes your funding helps make possible, rather than a list of activities.

Our Funding Approach

The Community Welcome Centre will not depend on a single source of income. El-Bethel Mission intends to build a mixed and sustainable funding model through:

  • charitable grants
  • church and community giving
  • regular individual supporters
  • business sponsorship
  • partner contributions
  • in-kind support
  • appropriate room or facility use
  • future service agreements
  • social enterprise contribution where appropriate

The aim is to ensure that the Centre remains sustainable while TENTing support continues to be free at the point of access for eligible service users.

Responsible Stewardship

El-Bethel Mission is committed to responsible stewardship of funds and resources. Funding for the Community Welcome Centre will be managed through appropriate financial controls, budget monitoring, restricted-fund accounting where required, trustee oversight and programme reporting.

The Centre will develop in phases so that expenditure grows in proportion to demonstrated need, sustainable income and organisational capacity.
